Urology

Urology is a medical specialty that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of disorders affecting the urinary system in both men and women, as well as the male reproductive system.
The urinary system includes the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra, while the male reproductive system includes the prostate, testes, and penis. Urologists treat a wide range of conditions, such as urinary tract infections (UTIs), kidney stones, bladder control problems, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and cancers of the urinary tract and reproductive organs, including prostate, kidney, and bladder cancers.
Treatment options in urology can include medications, lifestyle changes, minimally invasive procedures, and surgeries. Common surgical interventions include procedures to remove kidney stones, prostate surgeries, and cystoscopies to diagnose and treat bladder conditions. Advances in laparoscopic and robotic surgery have made many urologic procedures less invasive, resulting in faster recovery and less postoperative discomfort.
