General medicine, often referred to as internal medicine, is a medical specialty focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of adult diseases

Physicians who practice general medicine, known as internists, are trained to manage patients with complex and chronic conditions as well as those with multiple coexisting diseases

They serve as primary care providers and coordinate care with other specialists as needed. General medicine covers a broad spectrum of conditions, including cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, endocrine, and infectious diseases.
